Asset Life Cycle

Terra Stream Energy brings decades of experience in exploration, managing major development projects, and operating large onshore and offshore oil and gas fields. This expertise enables us to provide valuable support at every stage of the asset life cycle, from feasibility assessment to end-of-field-life decommissioning (P&A).

In the feasibility phase, it is particularly important to make targeted assumptions, a wise assessment of the risks and subsurface uncertainties, but also to understand the limits of technical, economic and environmental viability.

Terra Stream Energy as an execution partner helps investors in the early stages to make the right assumptions, to assess the effort involved and supports investors in making realistic time and cost estimates.

The experts in the Terra Stream Energy network have carried out hundreds of lead and play analysis to decide on exploration drilling. In the early exploration phase, extensive data research is carried out on similar geological plays. This can include the analysis of seismic-, drilling-, logging-, production data and much more. Only once the optimum amount of information has been extracted, the experts determine whether further data acquisition or studies are required (e.g. sedimentation studies, further seismic acquisitions, re-processing of seismic data, etc.). After completion of the early phase assessments and if the results are promising, an exploration well is planned.

Terra Stream Energy, as an execution partner, can conduct these exploratory studies and further more helps to create the geological work program for an exploration well, supports the planning and engineering of the well, the operational preparation, required tenders, awarding of contracts and their implementation. Whatever the client needs, we can provide it.

After the exploration phase is successfully completed, the field development phase begins. Geological reservoir models are built, drilling and production concepts are created, the flow behaviour of the reservoir is simulated, surface facilities are dimensioned and planned, and the materials are selected to ensure the longevity of the installation.

This is followed by project planning, time and cost estimation, risk analysis and much more. After completion of the so-called FEED phase (Front End Engineering & Design), the detailed engineering and tendering process begins to produce concrete time, cost and resource estimates as well as risk assessments for the final investment decision. Thereafter project execution commences.

Terra Stream Energy can take on the above-mentioned activities as an execution partner, for example as an EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management) partner. Other models, such as the provision of expertise, project managers or the takeover of sub-projects, are options that we tailor entirely to customer requirements. This high degree of flexibility enables clients to only keep as much personnel as is subsequently required for the operation of the constructed facilities and wells. After decades of operation, it is essential for the operator to safely plug and abandon oil and gas wells and dismantle the surface production facilities at the end of their lifespan.

The goal is to restore the site to its original condition as much as technically possible. In Germany alone, the oil and gas industry faces decommissioning obligations totalling several billion euros. Ensuring the safe and permanent plugging and abandonment of deep wells is essential for sustainably preventing the release of environmentally hazardous substances.
